Q&A:
From the perspective of your role, what’s one thing you wish clients understood better about the divorce process?
This is going to be one of the most challenging processes a person will go through, but that is why you put your trust in a firm to help guide you through it. Trust that you are in good hands. That is why you hire a firm in the first place 🙂
How do you balance the emotional side of family law with the legal side?
I am always empathetic towards clients because this is likely the first time they are going through this process, but they need to also understand there is a process to follow that is required by the Court and so it is never personal.
From the perspective of your role, how do you ensure clients feel heard and understood?
Make sure to check in frequently. A client wants to make sure their case is being followed and they are being updated on what is going on so checking in with them frequently allows them to get the updates they need and ask any questions all while feeling like they are in good hands.
What’s one myth about divorce law you’d like to clear up?
It is not a quick process! Everything is dependent on how the individuals communicate with each other and what is agreed upon. The less the two parties agree, the longer the process takes.
What do you like to do to unwind after a long day in court or at the office?
Pizza and the newest crime documentary on any streaming service!
If you weren’t working in the legal world, what career would you want to try?
Teacher! I love kids and working with children in that sense would bring me a lot of happiness!
What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
My siblings and I were adopted as babies, but we are all biological siblings- our biological mother wanted us to stay together so she reached out to my parents when my brother was born to see if they would like to adopt him as well. This is very unique and did not happen back then!
