Kim and Kanye are reconciling, what does this mean for their divorce?

Published by Danielle Giannola

What happened to Kim-Ye?

Kim Kardashian West filed for divorce from her husband, Kanye West, on February 19, 2021. However, Kim’s appearance at Kanye’s “Donda” listening event on August 26, 2021 have led many to believe that the couple are now reconciling. Many couples, like Kim and Kanye, have attempted to save their marriage after filing for divorce, but what does that mean for the active divorce case?

What is the reconciliation calendar?

The reconciliation calendar is for parties who are questioning whether or not they want to divorce or stay married. Some counties, like Cook County, have official reconciliation calendars, while in other counties the judge will push back the next court date for 60 to 90 days. During this time all other matters involving the divorce, such as discovery, are suspended. Pushing the next court date out a couple of months gives the parties time to try and work out their differences and hopefully withdraw the divorce. If you want to reconcile with your spouse, reach out to one of our experienced divorce lawyers in Lemont, Illinois for a free consultation.

Why go onto the reconciliation calendar?

If you are considering reconciling with your spouse and have already filed for divorce, the reconciliation calendar may be the right option for you. Otherwise, if you dismiss the petition for dissolution of marriage and chose to refile for divorce you will have to pay the filing fees again. Discuss the pros and cons of dismissing your action or getting on the reconciliation calendar today with one of Giannola Legal LLC’s family law attorneys in Will County, Illinois.

Discovery During Divorce

During a typical divorce, the parties will each issue discovery requests to the other side in order to gather documents and learn information about the other spouse’s assets and liabilities. Each spouse is entitled to be informed about the other’s financial situation.
